What is Guiding LIGHTS

LIGHTS stand for Legal, Innovation, Guidance, Health, Tradition & Services. Guiding Lights is a community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families and building stronger, healthier communities in the Twin Cities. We provide free accessible services including community legal aid, guidance, health and wellness outreach, and cultural and historical programming. Our goal is to make essential services easier to access helping communities navigate complex systems with confidence while empowering individuals to advocate for themselves and others, and strengthening cultural identity through education, celebration, and preservation.

Mission

The Mission is to strengthen underserved minorities and low-income communities by expanding access to legal aid, promoting community health and wellness, supporting educational growth, and preserving the cultural and historical traditions of the community through meaningful programs and services.
